     up until WCD almost every song was composed by all three members together Alsooo, EVERYBODY went pop, Gabriel's solo record's are pop, Mike's too, Tony's toooo and we all know about Phil's. So why blame Phil or in fact why does it have to be somebody's fault? WHY? Prog or Pop, their music was aw
    esome. That's all I had to say. I personally LOVE all Phil's songs and that's how i got into Genesis, so PHIL IS THE BEST!!!

     to read and watch the band's interview he/she would understand that Tony and Peter were the leading members in terms of recording music. So, after Peter went solo Tony was "in charge" and that's why the majority of the songs in the next 2 albums that followed are writen and composed by him. Afte
    r the great Steve left, the prog influence was also gone(a lot if not completely) Then Mike wrote the band's first Pop hit "Follow you Follow me". And Pop was "in" before Phil began to write

    Ok. Yes, agreed. That was a little flirtation with pop. Still ATTWT has lots of prog elements to be considered a Pop album like the ones Genesis did with Phil as its leader. He has said it himself, man. Forget what he has said. Listen to his music. Is just about the same as Pop Genesis. Anyways, decades from now, is the music from this era (Gabriel's Era) who is going to be praised and admired, Collins' "Invisible Bullshit"

    "Gabriel's solo records are POP" C'mon dude! First he has one of the BEST DEBUT ALBUM OF ALL TIME and the ones the followed it are so experimental and unpredictable. Yes, of course he introduced himself to the MTV generation with "SO", but that was about it. I f you are trying to bring down Peter's talent and artistic integrity to the same level of Collins' you need to present some other evidences better than just "SO" (which by the way, is Pop,
     but such a classy a smart album)

    Okay maybe I got a little carried away and made everything pop in my mind because in my mind I had songs like "Shock the Monkey", 'Sledgehammer", "Steam" and other songs where the pop element is THERE soooo ok, I'm a Gabriel fan and I should have known better BUT still you should stop blaming Phil because Genesis isn't Phil and genesis isn't Gabriel, Genesis is a group and if you wanna blame

     You think writing hit songs is easy? Not everyone can do it you know, it is as hard as writing artistic songs. You need to be talented for both. I can completely understand why you feel the need to trash everything genesis did in the 80's cause I love the early genesis stuff too and I know that
    once you go there you can't go back, but this is how I came to love Genesis and Gabriel, from being a huge Collins' fan, you feel?

    No. Phil Collins made Genesis into one of the most successful bands of all time. Then he went solo and was even more successful. Everything that Phil would touch turned to gold or was better than the original. The first time Phil started singing alongside Peter, it was more than obvious that something special was evolving, something extraordinary was influencing Genesis. Phil's magnificent, one of a kind voice had to be put in use. His incredible versatility makes him one of the
     biggest legends.
