Story:
Despite there being only sightings for split-seconds, reports in the NYZ have stated that Alex has been coming out more and more often and that he is the main cause for all of the deaths. Getting a phone call from his family, Sergeant James Heller learns of his wife's fear of Blackwatch, he instructs her that they are the experts and for them to not fret as he will be home the next day from his tour in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Heller returns to New York Zero to find Blackwatch burning the bodies of his family amongst others. The blame for these deaths is put on Alex Mercer as he released the virus while interrogating Elizabeth Greene. Hoping to join his family, Heller joins the military again to fight the virus and goes out on its most dangerous missions and each time he succeeds out of his rage with the hope to die. On one of his missions, Heller succeeds in killing the mutants but is mortally wounded.
He is then saved by Alex Mercer who injects him with a mutated version of the Blacklight virus as Mercer has taken an interest in Heller. This enrages Heller even more, as it was because of Alex Mercer he wanted to die. Taking full advantage of his new powers, Heller decides to destroy the Blacklight Virus as it killed his family. To do this, Heller taps on to the Blacknet System to decide where and how to strike the virus. As stated by Radical, the Heller vs. Mercer revenge story is the game's A-Plot and there is to be a more complex and multithreaded B-Plot.

really think they wouldn't initiate a lock down right there? Its because mercer was being traced that it didn't come to that. You should re watch the memory segments, then you'll remember him being traced, and mercer's call with mc mullen regarding the issue as to why he was lied to about greene
's infection. Its all there if you watch it.

thing on him, knowing full-well that it could be used to track him? Even common criminals know better than that. Mercer's methods of attempting to escape were completely retarded. I'm not some genius bio-geneticist, but even I can think of several better plans of escape than Mercer did.

Mercer seemed like the average bruiting hero. I feel something for Heller. Every time he screams or yells, I just feel overly sorry for this man. He's lost everything and now only has revenge on his mind. That is what makes a damn good character. Making you feel something for them. :D

wifes voice. hellers personality is deeper than mercer. but he was still cool
but that in the end they work together because Heller will maybe know Mercer's true intentions. Heller only knows what the normal Black Watch people know so maybe if he finds more information about Mercer's story, it will be a awesome fight WITH Mercer.
