it more disturbing to see the depiction of rent flesh amidst the otherwise clean, sterile, and inorganic appearance of the outer shell/armour of the Eva.
blood beings. This contrast works best on the Unit 05 series, because they're less alive than the rest of the Evas, and the creepy face lends itself to the image of insanity.
I really like the featureless visage of the Eva-05 units. Their humanoid forms invoke a sense of relationship to humans but then their distorted proportions and faceless heads provides a potentially more disturbing image than an exaggerated monstrous form that people can't relate to.
