agree man
radiohead have covered Can songs live a bunch of times...
´re lauded since their early days + have influenced countless bands + interprets around the globe, especially American & English bands. If you find something "ridiculous", this does not mean that people need to agree. German bands were always profilic at creating avantgarde music which was recognized later, And we
´re glad that the story went on after the war, because the Nazis had tried to destroy every avantgarde tradition in 12 years of their barbarian regime.
a self-indulgent direction similar to 80s Pink Floyd. But i don´t despise them, they just don´t touch my inner sensitivity, i know many who agree.Origins of personal taste are a difficult topic.Early Radiohead were also influenced by the XTC of their first 4 LPs in concept & style - in my opinion. There are also many English & U.S. bands who always named Can(among others)when asked for influences!
´t despise softer stuff - there is almost no way for a concentrated live or studio musician to be high on stage or during studio work. Music is often fun + work together, there are lots of people who cannot work inside art when having smoked a reefer. Painters may be an exception, but i don´t k
now them too well.
of Can in the music of Pere Ubu.
critically speaking, says more about later music then it does about the music of that time IYKWIM
that "I Want More" was No 2 in England, in the year when punk started its success story Can make a parody of disco culture...they always had their own heads. Many Germans still wonder why the English created the term Krautrock for German rock - Sauerkraut is not SUCH a popular food here...LOL
uhh rivinng
out of those skins. Surely the most underrated drummer ever - I've never seen him on any "Best Drummers" lists. Wipes the floor with most drummers I've come across.
the drummer, holy shit.
like how his voice just Explodes like a Volcano.... Hey U!!!!
to clean out their ears!
Ubu comparison is perfect. For me, Can's approach is more important than any particular sound they produced. This is part of why it's so difficult to explain to people why Can is a proto-punk band, and that punk re-tapped Krautrock's love for and ambivalence towards western music standards... (
And then promptly became a parody of itself.) The same confused people start searching for spiky hair when you call Ubu post-punk.
the best that ever came from Germany at all.
you racist?
