    Though agreed in some aspects, the movie is not supposed to be a historical depiction of the film (knowing it's idealized) watching it, it's clear that it's Wally's (the paralleling female character) image of Wallis which she's pieced together. The spirit of the film centers around an impossible love and it's obvious Nazi sympathizing would have ruined the spirit of the film. The film is beautifully shot, amazing colour and costume but lacking in story with unnecessary
     elements, but not idiotic

    Well I haven't seen it so I cannot personally give you my impression. However, I do know the historical background of these two, and it is nothing like what is protrayed in this trailer. I'm sure there are hundreds of other forbidden love stories with Historical background that do
     not have to obfuscate Nazi affiliations and/or loose women. This movie tries to make you sympathetic towards two people who did not deserve any sympathy at all.

    I expected the worst because of the bad reviews, but this film was a pleasant surprise after all. A
     really decent directorial effort by an artist not famous for her movie skills! I guess my opinion doesn't really count, since i'm a huge Madonna fan, but noone can deny that at least the performances, the music and the art direction were great. Just watch it!
