That's why NGE was made - they thought it would bomb and they'd be able to claim tax or bankruptcy or whatever... and then it went on to become one of the most popular anime franchises of the 20th century. Option three might be half-right; Anno was clinically depressed when
     he made NGE. Thus it's possible that he was on anti-depressants when he planned out the ending.

     fact its too underrated plus it hasent been on tv in years since adultswim and animenetwork took it off,if that was the case then this video would have over 12million views because evangelion in my opinion is one of the greatest animes of ALL time.

    @Kreanlorii Its a Visual Novel Game, and so far its one of the best!, like hell it even makes Fate Stay Night's VN look boring, So far as great as it maybe the company who made it AGE is waaaaay to over protective of it, so unlike Fate Stay Night it
     only getting an Anime Adaptation right now in 2012, I think there going to air it at summer, aldow its only another side story of Muv Luv called Total Eclipse, I wish they hurry it up with the main Story after this, Extra>Unlimited>Alternative
